Lesa Terry - <2004 - 2005 IW Music Director> - She is one of the pre-eminent jazz violinists on the scene and has performed and lectured throughout Europe. As a member of the Uptown String Quartet and the Double Quartet founded by the legendary Max Roach, Lesa has composed, arranged and performed for their recordings as well as with other noted artists. Ms. Terry's premiere performance of "Reflections Of Ellington" earned her the prestigious Meet The Composer Grant as well as the Fund for New York Award and she has been highlighted with the McCoy Tyner Trio in affiliation with the Brooklyn Philharmonic. Her credits also include a dozen Broadway shows, soundtracks for Spike Lee films and performances at Lincoln Center including the Boys Choir of Harlem. Ms. is a respected educator with a B.A. in Music from Cal State Northridge, M.A. from Cal State LA and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at UCLA. She has been a faculty member at Apelman College in Atlanta, has also taught at NYU, the University of Massachusetts, Alabama State University, Quad City Arts, and Santa Monica Community College. She has served as the jazz string instructor at Mancini Institute in Los Angeles for 8 years.
